ONE PHOTO, ONE LIT WINDOW

Window dance trend samples built from one photo

Each sample went from an original portrait to a lit-window still to a 10-second clip, remixed for this page from Seedance 2.0 Fast originals, plus a snowy still.

TWO TOOLS, THREE STEPS

How to make the window dance trend from a photo

Upload a sharp knees-up photo, build the night still with you in the lit window, check that your face reads, then press Animate it.

  1. 01

    Pick a sharp knees-up photo

Use one photo with your face to the camera, sharp and evenly lit, no sunglasses, framed from the knees up. The face has to read once the window fills the frame, and the clothes in the photo are the clothes in the window.

  2. 02

    Build the lit-window still

Pick Brick block window, Pet window or Snowy townhouse and select Build the still. Image to Image puts you in the one lit window of a dark block at 9:16. If your face looks small, rebuild only the still; a new still costs far less than a new video.

  3. 03

    Animate the shot

Select Animate it. Image to Video starts on the still and plays the timed beats: the push-in, the dance by the speaker, the caught smile and the curtain. Download the MP4.

SHOT BY SHOT

The window dance trend shot second by second

Zero to two seconds push in, two to six dance by the speaker, six to eight spot the camera and smile, eight to ten pull the curtain.

Push-in toward the lit window

0-2 s: push in

The camera drifts across the street toward the one warm window until it fills the frame and the face is large.

“0-2 s: slow smooth push-in through the night air until the lit window fills the frame”

Dancing by the speaker in the window

2-6 s: dance

Unaware of the camera, the dancer bounces on the knees next to the pink speaker, with fist pumps and swinging arms.

“2-6 s: unaware of the camera, they dance happily by the speaker”

Noticing the camera with a smile

6-8 s: spot the camera

The dancer notices the camera, slows to a shoulder groove and gives a cheeky caught-out smile.

“6-8 s: they notice the camera … a cheeky caught-out smile”

Pulling the curtain shut

8-10 s: curtain

Still smiling, the dancer grabs the dark curtain and pulls it shut. The shot ends on the curtain.

“8-10 s: still smiling, they grab the curtain and pull it shut”

THE TREND

The window dance trend explained

It grew out of the window peeper template from October 20, 2026; the Window Dance clip followed on October 22 and how-tos spread to the US, Mexico and France.

Window peeper first

On October 20, 2026 a CapCut template put people into a night shot of the one lit window in a dark apartment block, eating a burger until they catch the camera and pull the curtain: the window peeper meme.

The Window Dance template

On October 22 the UK account @dancevault14 posted a template clip called “Window Dance”: the same push-in, but the person inside dances next to a small speaker, grins at the camera and pulls the curtain. It had 975,600 views by October 25, and a second template post on October 24 passed 475,000.

Names in other languages

US how-tos call it the peeking-through-the-window dance or window peeper dance, Spanish ones baile en la ventana and French ones la tendance Window Dance. The tags #windowpeeperdance and #danceofthewindow started on October 24.

WHEN THE SHOT GOES WRONG

Fixing the zoom and curtain in the window dance trend

Give the push-in its own first two seconds, give the curtain its own last beat, and rebuild the still if your face looks small.

Camera never moves in

Usual cause: the prompt gives the push-in no time of its own.

Fix: start the motion prompt with “0-2 s: slow smooth push-in until the lit window fills the frame” and keep it one continuous shot.

Curtain never closes

Usual cause: the ending is not written as its own beat.

Fix: give the last two seconds to it, “8-10 s: they grab the curtain and pull it shut”, and keep the clip at 10 seconds.

Face too small

Usual cause: a wide still with a small figure in the window.

Fix: rebuild the still with you larger in the window, framed from the knees up, before you animate.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Window dance trend FAQ

Why design the still first?

The joke lives in the picture: a dark block, one warm window and you inside it. Building the still first shows whether your face reads in the window and the room looks right before any credits go to the video. If the face is small or the room is off, rebuild only the still.

Is there a CapCut template?

Yes. CapCut window templates spread on TikTok from October 20, 2026, and the Window Dance template clip followed on October 22. This page builds the same shot from one photo in the browser: the lit-window still first, then the push-in, dance and curtain.

Can my pet do the window dance?

Yes. Pick Pet window and add one sharp photo of your dog or cat on its own as the second photo. The still puts the pet upright beside you in the lit window. The first pet takes on TikTok, on October 25, 2026, had a dog in a red tracksuit and a cat in a tuxedo.

Where do the sample clips come from?

They are remixes of Seedance 2.0 Fast clips made for this trend on October 26, 2026, re-cut, reframed and color graded for this page. Each card shows the original photo and the still the clip started from. The snowy townhouse card is a still made with GPT Image.

What is it called in Spanish?

Baile en la ventana. French how-tos call it la tendance Window Dance, and US ones also say peeking-through-the-window dance or window peeper dance. The tags #windowpeeperdance and #danceofthewindow started on October 24, 2026.
